چکیده
Peer-to-peer (P2P) networking has emerged as a promising technology that enables distributed systems to operate in decentralized manner. P2P networks are based on model where each node the network can act both client and server, thereby enabling data resource sharing without relying centralized servers. The gained considerable attention recent years due its potential provide scalable, fault-tolerant, resilient architecture for various applications such file sharing, content distribution, social networks. In years, researchers have also proposed hybrid architectures combine benefits of structured unstructured networks. For example, Distributed Hash Table (DHT) is popular provides efficient lookup search algorithms while maintaining flexibility adaptability network. To demonstrate feasibility systems, several prototypes been developed, BitTorrent file-sharing protocol Skype voice-over-IP (VoIP) service. These demonstrated large-scale paved way development new P2P-based systems.

BitTorrent – Peer To Peer File Sharing
Content distribution is an important topic in networking and has been evolving from the start of the Internet. Content distribution began with the simple Client-Server structure in a unicast format. While this is still the cornerstone of the Internet, newer methods of distribution have been developed. These newer methods of distribution are usually developed to reduce the cost of distributing t...
متن کاملPeer-to-peer file sharing communities
Peer-to-peer file sharing communities present a paradox for standard public goods theory, which predicts that free-riding should preclude the success of the community. We present a model in which users choose their level of sharing, downloading, and listening in the presence of sharing costs and endogenous downloading costs. In our model, sharing emerges endogenously, largely as a byproduct of ...
متن کاملFair Peer Assignment Scheme for Peer-to-Peer File Sharing
The reciprocal virtue of peer-to-peer networking has stimulated an explosion of peer population and service capacity, ensuring rapid content distribution in peer-to-peer networks. Critical issues such as peer churn, free riding, and skewed workload significantly affect performance results such as service agility, fairness, and resource utilization. To resolve these problems systematically, this...
متن کاملModeling Peer-Peer File Sharing Systems
Peer-peer networking has recently emerged as a new paradigm for building distributed networked applications. In this paper we develop simple mathematical models to explore and illustrate fundamental performance issues of peer-peer file sharing systems. The modeling framework introduced and the corresponding solution method are flexible enough to accommodate different characteristics of such sys...
متن کاملClique: A transparent, Peer-to-Peer collaborative file sharing system
Clique is a HP Labs Grenoble project. The goal is to develop a novel peer-to-peer, server-less distributed file system based on optimistic replication algorithms, which transparently integrates into users’ native file systems. Some properties of the Clique system are epidemic replication, a no lost updates consistency model and conflict management, as well as disconnected operation and replica ...
